傳統Tshirt印花技術包括手工絲網印花、Tshirt紙轉印和燙畫紙轉印，這些傳統技術明顯存在很多不足與劣勢。手工絲網印花工序極復雜（從設計到印花完，大約有15道工序），對數量門檻（一般工廠起印量在500件以上）要求高；同時需要熟練工人，全部采用手工操作，出錯幾率大；同時只能印專色，無法印圖片。Tshirt紙轉印單件成本高（一張Tshirt紙零售在10元左右）；圖片效果無漸變色；處理后的衣服完全不透氣；耐洗性特別差，一般洗2－3次就基本看不清圖案了。燙畫紙轉印只適合大規模生產；大面積燙畫的話，導致衣服透氣性極差，耐洗性也不好。這些傳統印刷過程都要經過一道轉印工藝，圖案效果不僅很難保證，其中間產生的廢棄物，也極不環保。
